Pillow for Neck Issues: Beyond Just Comfort!

A pillow for neck issues is more than just a pillow. It is the perfect tool that can help your neck maintain its natural position, where no tension is created, allowing you to relieve and prevent neck pain once and for all.
Common Neck Issues in the Modern Day
With the widespread use of technology in the modern world, neck pain has become the norm. In fact, 70% of the population experiences neck pain at least once in their lifetime, while 40% of those cases become chronic.
Looking down at your phone for long periods of time or slouching over your computer while working places tremendous strain on your neck without you even noticing. The worst part is that we can only reduce our time on electronic devices so much because, for some of us, that's what we do for a living. If so, how can we fix this problem, and what does a pillow for neck issues have to do with it?
The Natural Alignment of Your Neck
Most of the poor postures we fall into during the day, such as slouching over the computer, looking down at our phones, or walking with our heads tilted forward (kyphosis), have one thing in common. They force your neck out of its natural alignment.
Dr. Joseph Lombardi, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Och Spine, NewYork-Presbyterian, has recommended keeping your neck in a neutral position to avoid putting too much stress on the discs. He explained that our skull weighs around 10 to 12 pounds, and this is the amount of force our discs absorb when the body is in its natural alignment. But when it isn't, that force can increase dramatically. Depending on your posture, it can reach up to 60 pounds.
Based on what he said, maintaining a neutral position of your neck is crucial in relieving and preventing neck pain. So, what is this neutral position? The neutral position, or the natural alignment of our body, including our neck, is when you stand upright with your back straight and your head directly above your neck, without tilting forward or backward. Now, you'll notice a slight curve at the back of your neck, and this is the point that most people often overlook, which is the main reason why they don't know where neck pain comes from or how to prevent it.
Maintains the Alignment
While a pillow for neck issues cannot help you fix poor daytime posture, such as kyphosis, prolonged phone use, or slouching over a computer, it does something way more important for your body: It helps maintain your body's proper alignment while you sleep.
The difference between poor posture during the day and poor posture at night is that you have complete control over one but not the other. To fix poor posture at night, the only thing you can count on is a pillow for neck issues.
What it does is keep your body in the same position as when you're standing upright, except you're going to be lying down. This means your head, neck, and spine are all still in line with each other. Because of this, tension won't build up while you sleep, allowing you to fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer. By the time the sun rises, you'll wake up refreshed and ready for the day instead of groggy and tired from neck pain.
Built for Structured Support
A pillow for neck issues is built for structured support rather than just comfort alone, unlike most traditional pillows. There's nothing wrong with wanting a comfortable pillow, but when you sacrifice proper support for comfort, that's when neck pain starts to show up.
The common shape of a regular pillow that most of us are familiar with is rectangular with a lump in the middle. Its filling is usually feathers, making it soft to the touch and comfortable when you first lie down. However, the lump in the center of the pillow tends to push your head forward while you sleep, forcing your neck into an awkward position. This can strain your neck all night long.
On the other hand, a pillow for neck issues is built completely different. Instead of a lump, it comes with a dipped center. This allows your head to rest perfectly in it, helping to maintain its alignment with your cervical spine and preventing it from falling into poor positions while you sleep. At the top and bottom are two neck rolls of different sizes that support the natural curve of your neck. These parts enable your neck to fully relax at night and release all the tension built up during the day.
The left and right sides of the pillow are raised specifically for side sleeping. Most feather pillows are too soft to properly support side sleepers. This is why you often find yourself folding the pillow in half or placing your hand underneath it for extra support. But with a pillow for neck issues, the entire gap between your head and the mattress is completely filled. You can sleep peacefully knowing your head won't drop in the middle of the night and strain your neck.
True Relief
Nothing is worse than waking up in the morning and feeling that sharp pain in your neck the moment you open your eyes. Your morning is more likely to end right there before it even has a chance to begin. You don't want that to happen! With a pillow for neck issues, you can prevent that from happening or gradually get rid of it if it's already affecting you.
Relieving neck pain doesn't have to be difficult or cost a fortune in medications and doctor visits. It can be as simple as listening closely to what your neck is telling you. This is exactly what a pillow for neck issues does. By giving your neck what it needs, neck pain will stop bothering you at night and in the morning. You can enjoy every night with restful sleep and wake up to refreshed, pain-free mornings.
